What We Do

Four areas of practice,
one standard of care

Law Offices of Natalie S. Felsenfeld PLLC focuses on the legal work Westchester families actually need: planning for what comes next, carrying out those plans after a loss, and protecting the largest purchase most people ever make.

Not sure which area your situation falls under? That is exactly what an initial consultation is for.

01

Estate Planning

A comprehensive review of your options so you can plan for a secure financial future.

Estate planning is not about documents. It is about deciding, in advance and in writing, who steps in if you cannot act, what happens to what you own, and how the people you love are cared for. Done well, it removes guesswork from the hardest moments your family will face.

We start by reviewing what you actually have: your home, retirement accounts, business interests, life insurance, and the people and causes you want to provide for. From there we walk through the choices available to you and the trade-offs between them, so the plan reflects your wishes rather than a template.

What this typically includes

  • Wills and revocable living trusts
  • Durable powers of attorney
  • Health care proxies and living wills
  • Guardianship nominations for minor children
  • Beneficiary and titling review
  • Planning for blended families
02

Estate Administration

Steady guidance through Probate or Administration when a loved one passes.

When someone dies, the legal work begins at the worst possible time. Whether there is a will to be probated or no will at all, New York requires a court process before assets can be gathered, debts settled, and distributions made. Executors and administrators are often doing this for the first time, while grieving.

We handle the filings and the correspondence, keep the process moving, and explain each stage before it happens. Our role is to carry the procedural weight so the family can focus on each other.

What this typically includes

  • Probate petitions and executor appointments
  • Administration where there is no will
  • Estate accountings and creditor notice
  • Asset marshaling and valuation
  • Distribution to beneficiaries
  • Guidance for executors and trustees

Executors and administrators

Fulfilling this role for the first time is common. You do not have to work out the process alone.

Real Estate

Residential transactions across the Hudson Valley, New York State and Connecticut.

For most families, a home is the single largest asset they will ever own. A residential purchase or sale is also a contract with real financial exposure, negotiated on a deadline, with documents that are rarely read closely by the people signing them.

We represent buyers and sellers from contract through closing: reviewing the contract of sale, examining title, raising and resolving objections, coordinating with lenders and the other attorney, and attending the closing. You will understand what you are signing before you sign it.

Property types and services

  • Co-ops and condominiums
  • New construction and builder contracts
  • Single and multi-family homes
  • Apartment buildings and mixed-use
  • Contract review and negotiation
  • Title review and closing attendance

Wills, Trusts and Estates

Address estate taxes and make certain your documents reflect your wishes.

Documents written years ago can quietly stop doing what they were meant to do. Life changes: marriages, births, deaths, moves between states, a business that grew, an asset that was retitled. An outdated will can send an estate down a path nobody intended.

We review existing plans against your current circumstances and New York and Connecticut law, identify where estate taxes may apply, and update your documents so they accomplish what you actually want. Where a trust is the right tool, we build one that fits rather than one that is merely available.

Documents and planning we prepare

  • Will drafting and updates
  • Revocable and irrevocable trusts
  • Estate tax exposure review
  • Trust funding and retitling
  • Document review and revision
  • Planning after a major life change

Has anything changed?

A move, a marriage, a birth, or a new business can all quietly outdate an otherwise sound plan.

Not sure where your situation fits?

Most people are not. Describe what is going on and we will tell you plainly whether we can help, and what the next step looks like. Scheduling a consultation is straightforward.
